Happy 93rd Birthday Granny - We love you!

On June 26th my granny turned 93 YEARS OLD!! It's hard to image she was born in 1916! She has lived through so much history, it's amazing. My how the world has changed in her 93 years. Just take a second and think about that - 93 years of history!

Granny is a wonderful lady. I have soooo many fond childhood memories. My mom and I actually lived with my granny about 11 years of my life. Granny retired when I was 2 so that I no longer had to go to daycare (my mom worked full-time). When I became school age she also drove me to school and picked me up. During the summer I spent time with granny at the Farmer's Market, picking vegetables out of her garden, etc. I had the greatest childhood ever.

Granny, I hope you had an AWESOME 93rd b'day - WE LOVE YOU VERY MUCH!

FYI

If you previously tried clicking on the necktie with words on it given to David by Luke and couldn't get it to view full screen or larger, I have reloaded the picture. So please try again. These are questions posed to Luke by his teachers and the responses are all Luke - the things kids say!!!

Stop! Drop!...and Roll!

Like Father/Like Son - How cute is this???

A Father's Day visit to the Fire Department - this is Luke's favorite place to hang out! They both are wearing their "turn out" gear and according to Luke..."are ready to roll!"

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY

Picture above is what Luke gave Daddy for Father's Day. Unfortunately Daddy had to work today :(

Pictures below are things Luke made at school for Daddy - the school does the best job with Mother's Day and Father's Day gifts (see my Mother's Day post if you missed the things Luke made for me at school) I just love this stuff!

Happy Father's Day to the best daddy and husband in the entire world. We love you very much!

SNAKE!!!!!!!!

Yes, I saw snake yesterday at our house. This snake wasn't just sunning out in the yard (as if that makes any difference whatsoever..it's still a SNAKE) it was curled right up next to where you step off my front porch. As a matter of fact had it not been for my family visiting and walking toward the front porch Luke and I would have stepped right over it or...even worse..on top of it!

In the commotion of getting everyone safely inside I was only able to catch a glimpse of the snake. It was black and about as round as a half-dollar! Based on my knowledge (ha!) of snakes...I'm saying it was a king snake or rat snake which I understand are not poisionous (okay so that makes the situation a little better!) However, the fact the snake doesn't appear to be a poisionous one is negated by the fact it is still alive and roaming free this very minute in my yard and neighborhood - YES, THE SNAKE GOT AWAY!

I'm sure all of the women are wondering what my manly firefighter hubby was doing during all of this??? He was AT WORK! David is always at work when there is some sort of crisis - it never fails. Before I realized the snake was "in the wind", I called David to ask if we owned a hoe (yep, I was going to kill this snake and defend my family... well, maybe if my nerve held out) Not only was David at work.. he informed me we do not own a hoe - no hubby no hoe!

All of this to say....during this hot weather, please watch out for snakes and ladies when registering for wedding gifts please add a "hoe" to the registry, hindsight is 20/20.

What is This?

This morning Luke kept pulling things out to put on. Not sure what style he was going for but I had to get a picture of whatever this is... Thank goodness we are not going anywhere - YIKES

Just Another Weekend

Mean scary face!!

Silly face

Helping Daddy w/ the staple gun...no we didn't let him do it.

FINISHED!!! For now.....

Since March we (David and I) and his parents have been working very hard on our front yard. Of course we have no "before" pictures but I am posting the "after". It is still a work in progress but the major overhaul and yard renovations are complete...for now. I still would like to add a small tree here or there and some other blooming shrubs but for this year we are done - YEAH!! I'm very happy with how things turned out.

I really wish we had "before" pictures.. We had huge overgrown hedge bushes in front of the house. We pulled those up and put down hydrangeas and other small plants as well as as laying a pathway through the "natural area" and stepping stones from the grass to the sidewalk. In the natural area are hostas, ferns, some azalea bushes, a mini penny hydrangea, etc. The plants are small right now but in a few years I can't wait to post an "after...after" photo....

A HUGE THANK YOU TO MY IN-LAWS - WITHOUT YOUR HELP AND KNOWLEDGE NONE OF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED...
